Object X-2，名称为层象球，是X层群的第二个物品。
描述:
Object-X-2的一个休眠实例，内部原为Level 48的成像。现位于M.E.G. Alpha基地内的储藏室内。
Object X-2的物理外观表现为由类似玻璃的透明且常温下硬度较低的二氧化硅晶体形成的规则球体，组成改球体的材料不明，但表现为与一般的二氧化硅相同的性质。该物品的体积一定为350立方厘米，该材料的密度一定为一个从小于水的0.7克每立方厘米至12.7克每立方厘米的随机值。其内部始终存在不符合光学原理的任一层级内部的成像，且即使外观透明，光线无法穿透该球体。
性质：
Object X-2易碎。无论破坏者有意或无意，破坏程度轻或否，这将不可逆的使得破坏者被动地传送至内部成像所示的层级内部，同时，该球体的碎片将被以未知的方式及原因替换为普通玻璃碎片。若试图在不通过破坏物品的情况下进入内部层级，需使用厚度至少为1毫米的布料擦拭至少10平方厘米的球体表面，并集中注意力想象对面层级的环境，大声说出下列咒语一,即可立即前往该层级。该操作可通过咒语二撤销并返回：

该性质的由来仍在研究中，截至撰稿时尚不明确。每次进行无论主动或者被动的层群内传送，单程均有12小时的休眠期。每次进行无论主动或者被动的跨层群传送，单程均有24小时的休眠期。完整传送后均有24小时的休眠期。该休眠期可通过使用杏仁水清洗以缩短时间，平均每1毫升杏仁水减少1分钟休眠期。
